Muscadine is a white wine grape variety, whose origin is not precisely determined, but is considered an indigenous variety in Greece. Muscadine (white) is better known in the world under its synonyms Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains (France) and Moscato bianco (Italy). It is a vigorous variety, favoring loose and moderately fertile soils. The fleshy part of the berry has a distinctly musky flavor. It is susceptible to attacks by wasps, bees and other insects.
The wine, with its rich aromatic profile, offers excellent pairing possibilities with a variety of dishes. Ideal choices are white meats, seafood, light salads, and cheeses. Muscadine can also be served with fruit desserts such as fruit tarts, where its aroma complements the flavors of the dessert.
