Why is the winery called Dionis Ljubnica?
In Greek mythology Dionysus is the god of the grape-harvest, wine making and fertility, above all god of the wine. Anything religious related to Dionysus refers to wine, ecstatic dance and all the rituals that help a person escape from daily routines.
According to the first records of 1718, Ljubniča (Lubnischa) used to be the name of today’s Bukvik village.
None of the ancient tribes draws such an attention by their archaeological heritage, such as the Celts do, and none of them seem so contemporary as the Celts do. Although their culture disappeared from the European land over two thousand years ago, their heritage was flourishing for a long time.
The Celtic heritage could be found in some linguistic references, hidden in the names of geographic locations.
According to the preserved records, the name LUBNICHI was used in 4 locations populated by the Celts, one of them being Bukvik village.
In Celtic LUB-NI-CHI=LUB- yield, crop, gift
NI – act, essence
CHI – watch, see
Literal meaning of this word is beneficient, affluent
